Mr. Gum Pun's Residence – Interior Design Project, Banasthali, Kathmandu

Located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Banasthali, Kathmandu, Mr. Gum Pun’s home features a thoughtfully designed interior that balances elegance, comfort, and timeless design principles. This residential interior project focused primarily on enhancing the functionality and aesthetic of the living and dining areas, with particular attention to creating a fluid spatial connection between the two zones.

The design embraces the Contemporary style, characterized by refined symmetry, elegant proportions, and a sophisticated palette. The living area features a grand 6-seater Chesterfield sofa set, upholstered in plush, tufted fabric that echoes classic European luxury. A custom-built TV shelf adds both functionality and visual balance, designed to complement the overall aesthetic with clean lines and tasteful ornamentation.

Spatial fluidity was a key design objective. The open-plan layout ensures a seamless flow between the living and dining zones, promoting interaction and enhancing the sense of openness within the home. The dining area includes a 6-seater solid wood dining table, chosen for its durability and timeless appeal, paired with upholstered chairs for added comfort.

Neutral tones dominate the color scheme, enhanced by warm lighting fixtures and subtle gold or brass accents, creating a welcoming and cozy ambiance. Ceiling detailing and wall moldings subtly reference classical motifs, while modern materials and finishes bring in a contemporary flair, ensuring the space feels both elegant and livable.

Additional interior elements such as custom cabinetry, ambient lighting, and curated accessories have been integrated to reflect the client’s personal taste and lifestyle. The result is a harmonious living space that celebrates both tradition and modernity, tailored to meet the daily needs of a contemporary family while preserving a timeless sense of style.
