Description:

Sunar Mai Temple – Balara Municipality, Sarlahi, Nepal

The Sunar Mai Temple is a culturally significant religious structure located in the Sarlahi district of Nepal, designed and constructed for the Office of the Municipal Executive, Balara Municipality. Spanning a total site area of 483.19 sq. ft., the temple is dedicated to the revered goddess Sunar Mai and serves as a vital place of worship for the local community.

The architectural design of the temple is a harmonious blend of traditional Nepali craftsmanship and contemporary construction techniques. It features locally sourced Dachi bricks and decorative bricks, embodying the rich heritage of Nepali masonry. The structure is further supported by Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) for durability and stability, while traditional Nepali Agrakh wood adds cultural authenticity and aesthetic warmth to the design.

This temple stands as both a spiritual center and an architectural landmark, symbolizing the intersection of faith, tradition, and modern development within the municipality. It not only enhances the religious life of the community but also reinforces the importance of preserving Nepal’s unique architectural identity in contemporary civic projects.
